24th August 2008 Windsurfing: Camber Sands Wind Direction: SSW'ly Wind Stength: F3-4 Surf / Sea State: Medium Waves Air Temperature: 18 Sea Temperature: 13 Weather: Rain then Sun Max Speed: Distance Covered: Got to Camber around 12:30 today with SteveE. It was raining and miserable when we arrived, but seemed like it was blowing. We deliberated for a while over a 4.7 or a 5.8, but went for more power in the end. Just as well, as the wind dropped off not long after arriving. Didn't have the greatest sail today - it was pretty onshore, and punching out though the relentless lines of whitewater a bit underpowered was fine for some of the time, but then when I was about half way out, I'd get punched by a breaking wave and pushed back in, whilst being dragged by the rip down to the rinser. I did have a few half decent rides in, with a few wiggles on the smaller waves, but all in all a bit unhappy with my sailing today. I guess I was due a bad day after my recent run of good sessions...! Anyhow, heading to Whitstable tomorrow, so hoping for an easy mellow session! |
